Marion was a powerful and magical half-witch, half-angel human until she woke up in a small-town hospital with no memory of who or what she is. She gets help from the local doctor, Luke, and soon they're on the run from assassins out to kill Marion. Luke keeps secrets from Marion, though, keeps his true identity a secret and helps her as a regular mundane human, rather than who he really is. Marion doesn't know who to trust, the only person she feels safe with is Luke, but she must figure out who she is, who sent the assassins, and why they were sent after her.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The synopsis intrigued me. The story is a mix between paranormal and post-apocalypse. It's a post-apocalyptic world filled with demons, vampires, werewolves, witches, faeries, angels, and so much more. I've read paranormal and I've read post-apocalyptic dystopian, but never a mix of both. It was a very interesting combination and the author seemed to mesh them together well. I loved the idea of the time of the apocalypse being called Genesis, a new birth of whole new races of creatures.

The characters were very easy to follow. They each had their own personalities, each unique. Luke was my favorite, so mysterious throughout, but willing to help Marion no matter the cost. Marion's arrogance and entitlement annoyed me slightly, even with her memory loss she still felt she deserved to treated as royalty, almost, expecting everyone to do as she says, follow her orders. It was clear as the story went along that Marion felt very entitled before she lost her memory. She was dating a sidhe prince, had amazing powers, and was a very important person in the upcoming summit meeting between all the races. The author wrote Marion's character well.

I would love to see the world as it is in Cast in Angelfire, all the different races, the magic, all the changes that have unfolded since Genesis. The humans seem to be a minority in this world, most lost in the apocalypse. It was intriguing, and the Autumn Court in the fairy or sidhe world sounds amazing. Autumn has always been my favorite season, and to have a land entirely Autumn always sounds beautiful.

This is the first in a trilogy, and I am definitely looking forward to reading the continuing story of Marion and Luke. There are so many questions left unanswered, and I want those answers.

One Last Thought: There were several grammatical errors throughout the book, it didn't take too much away from the overall read, but another edit of the book would be good.

First Sentence: There was a bounty on the life of a girl named Marion.

Favorite Character: Luke Flynn

Least Favorite Character: Oliver Machado

Nineteen-year-old Marion can’t remember anything before waking up in the hospital. All she knows is that a lot of people want to kill her. And her would-be assassins are not human…

Vampires are real. So are faeries and angels.

They all want Marion dead.

Surrounded by enemies, Marion turns to Lucas Flynn: a mysterious doctor who seems to know more than he’s letting on. He’s as good with a gun as he is with a scalpel. He fights like a demon but claims that he’s human. And he’s hellbent on protecting Marion.

Lucas claims that Marion is a mage: half-witch, half-angel with terrifying powers that could crack the world. But Marion can’t remember how to cast magic any more than she can remember where she comes from.

Marion must find her identity and her power…before the forgotten sins of her past catch up with her.
